New Citizens
The New Citizens Reception Committee provided refreshments to over 300 new citizens, their families and friends during 1998. To enliven the festivities, Banjo Joe entertained everyone with his renditions of patriotic songs. The ceremonies and receptions were held at the United States District Courthouse for Eastern Pennsylvania.
Judge Harvey Bartle, III, a member of the Society presided at the first event on March 18, 1998. He administered the oath to 104 new citizens representing 29 countries. On June 17, 1998, Judge Louis H. Pollak presided and 89 new citizens representing 27 countries took the Pledge of Allegiance. The last reception and naturalization ceremony was conducted on November 18, 1998 and Judge Bruce W. Kauffman administered the oath to 100 new citizens representing 30 countries.

All naturalization ceremonies are open to the public and members of the Society are encouraged to attend to show their support and appreciation for the new citizens. Members may contact the Society office for information on the next ceremony.
Younger Members Toast the Holidays at Champagne Tasting Party
The Younger Members Committee sponsored a champagne tasting party on Friday, December 4, 1998 at the Racquet Club. Attendees sampled a variety of fine champagnes and were given a lesson or two in the vintner's art that created them. Three cheers to chairman "Jay" Bowden, III and his committee for an effervescent event.
