Genealogical Research Support Provided by Society

In our efforts to facilitate a candidate’s application process, the Society sometimes provides - on an individual, as needed basis, and after review --genealogical assistance for researching difficult records.

As a result, the turn around time for many of the "applications in process" has been reduced to six to nine months. Under our present guidelines, a candidate must complete his research and submit working papers and support documents within one year after notification that the Admissions Committee has accepted his Proposal for Membership. If that time frame is not met, a candidate can request an extension. Otherwise, he and his Proposer are advised that his application is inactive.

Since February 2000, the Society received 18 proposals for membership and 11 membership applications. Of that number, two have become junior life members, and 10 have become members as of September 2000. There are still 23 candidates in the process of preparing working papers and completing
