Description: Chippendale side chair with shaped crest rail, pierced Gothic splat, slip seat, cabriole front legs and trifid feet, marked "V" on inside of rear seat rail. Chair has through tenons made up of multiple pieces of wood. This could be an example of Germanic wedged tenons, but finish irregularities around the tenons suggest the multiple pieces of wood now making up the tenons are the result of later repairs. Seats upholstered around 1980 in blue and white printed silk (now with slight shreds due to age) with layers of older fabric intact beneath. Marked L.77.6 on rear seat rail.
