Object Term: Mirror Stand Description: Central pivoting oval shaving mirror with flanking laminated wood supports, covered on front with mahogany veneer, the side supports connecting to shaped but flat legs running perpendicular to the mirror, joined by a shaped stretcher. Side supports and central stretcher feature double incised lines. Mirror now backed with thin, cracked piece of pine with white sticker "x474," held in place by seven irregularly spaced modern tacks piercing the inner edge of frame, the entire backing about half the depth of mirror frame leaving brass pivoting hardware visible. Original backing was probably full depth of frame to conceal pivoting hardware and many original backing tacks still piercing the back of frame. Owned by Captain Jacob Da Costa's family at the time Horner wrote the Blue Book of Philadelphia Furniture.
