Description: a) Round gold medal presented to General Anthony Wayne by the United States government in 1789. The obverse with, on left, a bare-breasted female figure of America personified as an Indian queen wearing a cap and skirt of feathers, with a bow, an alligator and American shield at her feet, handing a laurel and a mural crown to the male figure at right, dressed in a Revolutionary War uniform holding a hat in his left hand. Edge of medal is straight, not reeded. The reverse featuring the site of the Stony Point assault, with clouds above the mountain of Stony Point on left, the Hudson River at right with six boats, the infantry at lower left and the artillery at lower left. b-c) Two part round box with slightly domed lid, with frayed gold velvet interior and the remains of a ribbon pull-up. Faded green exterior may originally have been leather or shagreen, now worn down to green paper covering a structure of lightweight wood; hinged on one side with pressure latch attachment on opposite, all hardware now broken.
